Publisher Description
This album of digital flashcards and a quiz makes it easy to memorise Morse code — a system of encoding messages that is used to send telegraphic information using just two types of signal: short and long.
Designed in the 19th century, Morse code is still used on ships (using lights), by radio operators and aviators. Sending an SOS (“save our souls”) distress signal is a famous use of Morse code.
Due to its binary nature, Morse code can be transmitted over a wide variety of media. This makes it a universal way to convey alphanumeric information. Today, knowledge of Morse code is not required of all military personnel, but is still recommended for mariners and aviators.
